Fishermen to lay siege to Parliament on March 10: NFF

Members of the National Fish Workers Forum (NFF) will lay siege to the Parliament on March 10, in support of the fishermen's charter of demands, including a separate ministry for fisheries.

Fishermen from all the coastal states and delegates of inland fishermen would participate in a demonstration and lay siege to Parliament, NFF Chairman M Illango said in a release here today.  


The protest was aimed at urging the government to form a separate ministry for development of fisheries and welfare of fishermen, grant of Scheduled Tribes status and supply of kerosene and diesel to them at cost price among other demands, Ilango, a former MLA of Puducherry, said.
