Five of a family charred to death

Five members of a family, including three children, were killed in a devastating fire in Assam's Barpeta district, police said today.

Ziad Ali and four others identified as Jarful Islam and three children Safikul Islam, Rafikul Islam and Sariful Nessa, were charred to death late last night when the fire broke out in the house.

Police suspect that the fire initially broke out in the kitchen and soon spread to other rooms of the house.

The exact cause is, however, yet to be ascertained.
