Five people killed after being struck by lightening

Five people including four children were killed today in separate incidents of lightning in two villages of the district here, police said.

The first incident occurred in Supela village where some children were standing under a tree to protect themselves from rains and thunder.

They were struck by lightning after which Sunil Patel (19), Ankit Patel (8), Vipul Patel (8) and Manju Tiwari (8) died on the spot, while two others sustained burn injuries, Amilia police station in-charge said.

In a similar lightning incident at Rajgarh village, Urmila Shukla (12), died while standing under a tree to protect herself from heavy rains, the police added.
