Former insurance company official sentenced to one yr RI

: A former United India Insurance Company official was today sentenced to one year Rigorous imprisonment by a CBI court in Madurai on a false insurance claim case in 2008.

Special Judge for CBI Cases M M Krishnan, who convicted Madhavan, also imposed a fine of Rs 4,000 on him.

According to the prosecution, M A Madhavan, Development Officer of the company at Tirunagar in Madurai passed an order on a forged document to prove a vehicle had valid insurance cover at the time of accident.

Investigations revealed no policy was in existence when the vehicle met with an accident and Madhavan had caused wrongful loss of Rs 9,38,406 to his company.
 

The Anti Corruption Bureau of CBI registered a case in 2008 and on completion of investigation, filed a chargesheet under various sections of the IPC.
