Four family members die after being knocked down by tipper

Four members of a family died, while two others sustained injuries after a tipper-lorry driver, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, hit their stationary two-wheeler here last night.

The deceased include three children, police said.

They were identified as Shaik Azhar (37) and his two daughters and a son (all aged between 3 and 9 years), while his wife and another daughter suffered injuries in the accident, they said.

The mishap occurred under Karkhana police station limits at around 10.15 PM when Azhar alongwith his wife and children was proceeding to attend a marriage at Tirumulgherry, Inspector Y Nageswar Rao said.
 

According to police, a heavy vehicle driven at a high speed and in a rash manner dashed against Azhar's bike when he had stopped for enquiring the address of the function hall resulting in the death of four.

The injured were later admitted to a hospital, police said.

The driver K Advaiah, who was allegedly driving the vehicle under the influence of liquor was today arrested, police said.
