Four members of a family from Uttar Pradesh who were returning from a pilgrimage were killed in a road accident in East Champaran district of Bihar today, a police officer said.
The accident took place near Damodarpur village on NH-28 when a speeding car rammed into a stationary truck as a result of which an occupant of the car died on the spot, while three others succumbed to injuries at Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) at Muzaffarpur, Inspector Ravi Kumar posted at Mehsi police station said.
The victims were identified as Pintu Prasad (48), Balwant Prasad (28), Prince Kumar (12) and Rita Devi - all members of family hailing from Manthauli village in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh, he said.

The driver escaped from the spot after the accident, Kumar said.
The family members were returning to their native place in three vehicles after pilgrimage to Deoghar, the police officer said.
