Four Punjab medical colleges increase MBBS seats

Four medical colleges in Punjab, one of them a government institution, have added 50 seats each in their MBBS programmes, the state's Principal Secretary of Medical Education said here.

Guru Govind Singh College in Faridkot, Shri Guru Ram Dass Medical College in Amritsar and the Christian Medical College and the Dayanad Medical College in Ludhiana are the facilities which have enhanced their undergraduate intake, Principal Secretary Vinni Mahajan Gupta said.

Gupta also revealed that the Medical Council of India had given its nod to Chintpuri College in Pathankot to admit students.

Regarding admission of NRI candidates in MBBS and BDS courses, Gupta said the state government had instructed the Baba Farid University of Health sciences to conduct eligibility tests for the purpose.
