Four students held with tiger pelt in Ghaziabad

Police arrested four persons from Vaishali colony today and recovered a tiger pelt from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off, Indira Puram police reached Vaishali colony and nabbed the students- Aashish, Neel, Shubham and Abhishek, all hailing from Noida, said Deputy Superintendent Indira Puram, Atul Yadav.

While checking their bags, police recovered a tiger pelt from their possession and after interrogation, all of them confessed that were going to sell it, Yadav said.

The Forest department has assessed the value of skin around Rs 6 lakh, he added.

The four youths have been booked under the provisions of Wildlife Protection Act (1972), the officer said.
