In good news for kidney patients, Delhi government will open exclusive dialysis centres in three major hospitals on August 19 where poor patients will be offered the treatment free of cost.
Initially, a total of 32 dialysis machines will be installed at LNJP hospital, Bhagwan Mahaveer hospital and Janakpuri Superspecialty hospital.
The Delhi Cabinet in May had approved a proposal to procure a total of 120 dialysis machines for six major government-run hospitals.

"We are striving hard to expand quality healthcare facilities to the poor patients. The dialysis centres are being set up to ensure free treatment to kidney patients from poor families," Health Minister A K Walia said after a meeting with top brass of his department.
Patients from BPL families and those having an annual family income of up to Rs 3 lakh will be provided the dialysis treatment free of cost.
To avail the treatment free, a patient will have to be resident of Delhi for last three years.
Other patients will be charged Rs 1,073 for 2-3 hours of dialysis treatment.
"We will launch the dialysis services in three government hospitals on August 19," Walia said.
