G V Raja award for sportspersons announced

: Olympic athlete Anju Bobby George, volleyball player Tom Joseph and two Asian games medal winners O P Jaisha and Gibin Thomas have been nominated for the state government's G V Raja award for sportspersons.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs one lakh and a citiation, Sports Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan told reporters here today.

They were nominated for their outstanding contribution to sports in the state.

Ace athlete P T Usha has been nominated for the best coach awardm, which carries a cash prize of Rs 55,000 and a citation.
