Gale causes damage to banana crops

Farmers growing banana trees suffered a loss of more than Rs five lakh due to gale winds that lashed Sathyamangalam and nearby areas in the district this evening.

The affected farmers said that heavy winds lashed Nallur, Karapady and Pungar areas damaging the crops ready for harvest.

Revenue and Agricultural department officials visited the areas to make on the spot assessment of damage to crops.
