Gang attacks murder accused near police station

Authorities were thrown into a tizzy after a ten-member gang today attacked a car carrying a murder accused near a police station here.

The assailants blocked the car using a bullock cart and then smashed the windscreen of the car and attacked the accused, his wife and four other family members.

The accused, Babu, was coming to the Annathanapatty police station to fulfil bail conditions when the attack occurred.

Babu and his relatives were injured and have been admitted to the government hospital here.

Police said a man who tried to come to their rescue was also attacked. He has been admitted to a private hospital.
 

A special team has been formed to nab the assailants.
