Gangster held after encounter with police, 2 cops injured

A gangster was today arrested here today after an exchange of fire in which two police personnel were injured, the police said.

SP (City) Akash Tomar said that during a special campaign to arrest wanted criminals this morning, two persons riding a motorcycle were ordered to halt but they fired at the police personnel.

The police personnel fired in retaliation in which one of the bike-borne persons was shot in the leg and fell from the two-wheeler, the officer said, adding the other person fled.

During the encounter, a sub-inspector and a constable were also injured, he said.

The injured police personnel and the accused have been admitted to a hospital, the police said.
 

The accused has been placed under arrest and a pistol, live cartridges and looted items have been seized from him, they said.
