Ganguly sits in Delhi Capitals dugout

Press Trust of India  |  Kolkata

Unperturbed by the debate around conflict of interest, Capitals on Friday sat in the 'visitors' dugout for their IPL match against hosts Knight Riders here.

Ganguly, who was seen in full flow, conducting training sessions as Capitals advisor, sat in the dugout during the IPL match at the Eden Gardens here.

The former had earlier clarified his stand on "conflict of interest" in his dual role as IPL franchise Capitals while serving as the of Association of Bengal.

The BCCI DK Jain had asked Ganguly to clear his stand on allegations of conflict of interest for his dual role as alleged by three fans.

"I don't know. I've not thought about it. I'm happy to be a part of Delhi Capitals and hopefully we can play well. I really never thought about it," Ganguly told the official TV channel.

Earlier he had a close look a the 'green' 22 yards and gave fielding and catching practice to the Delhi players.

With him at the helm of Delhi Capitals franchise, few of his detractors had claimed that he would have 'a say' in pitch preparation.

But brushing aside the charges, Ganguly said: "I don't think so. It's a good pitch for both the teams. It's been for last three years. That's what people come here watch good T20 You go to Mumbai, you go to Bangalore, and runs are put up on the board."

Three based fans -- Bhaswati Santua, and -- in a letter to BCCI Ombudsman had alleged that Ganguly's dual role is a case of conflict of interest.

However, Ganguly, in his written reply to the Ombudsman's notice, has categorically denied the charge and was subsequently allowed to sit in the dugout.

Speaking about the Delhi Capitals team, Ganguly said: "They are a young bunch. Shikhar Dhawan is an Prithvi Shaw looked very talented, Rishabh Pant is there is as well. Shreyas Iyer has taken the responsibility of captaincy very well. Kagiso Rabada...he is just 23 and he has really come off well. There are quite a few talented players in the side and hopefully they can do well.
