Girl drowns as boat capsizes in Narmada river in MP

A girl drowned and a few others went missing after a boat carrying around 20 people capsized in the Narmada river near Sandook village in the district today, police said.

"A girl drowned while three-four others have gone missing after the boat overturned in the river," Narsinghpur SP Mukesh Shrivastava told PTI from the spot.

The victims were returning from a religious function when the mishap occurred, he added.

A rescue operation has been launched and the girl's body has been retrieved, Shrivastava said.
