Girl run over by train near Mettupalayam

A 21-year-old girl student was run over by a train near Mettupalayam when she was attempting to cross the railway track, police said today.

Ramapriya, a biotech student in a private college here, was returning to her grand father's house after college hours and got down at Velankanni bus stop on Mettupalayam-Karamadai road, some 35 Kms from here, they said.

In order to reach her home, she attempted to cross the railway track without noticing the Nilgiris Express approaching her. Before realising, she was run over by the train, police said.
