The Goa Government will roll out an ambitious health insurance scheme, which has provision for cashless hospitalisation of up to Rs 4 lakh, tomorrow.
"Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY) would be effective from September 1. We have already distributed the cards to the beneficiaries," Deputy Chief Minister Francis D'Souza told reporters here.
He said the benefits of the scheme were supposed to be availed from August 15 onwards, but had to be postponed as very few health cards were ready.

"We had received 1.10 lakh applications seeking health cards of which only 50,000 cards were ready," he said.
DDSSY offers cashless hospitalisation of up to Rs 2.50 lakh for a family of up to 3 members and up to Rs 4 lakh for a family of 4 or more members, D'Souza said.
The scheme will cover mental illness, ayurvedic treatment, long-term medication for chronic lifestyle diseases such as hypertension and diabetes among 447aliments.
