Gold ornaments seized

Seven hundred and twenty grams of gold ornaments worth Rs.22 lakh were today seized from eight passengers, including four Sri Lankan nationals, who arrived here by a Sri Lankan airlines flight from Colombo.

Customs officials intercepted four Lankan nationals Mohamed Nazeem, Kande Gedara Razeed Nizar Mohamed, Mohamed Shukri and Mohamed Rizwan and four passengers hailing from Tamil Nadu who were trying to walk through the 'green channel' with their hand baggage.

On being checked, gold ornaments of 24 carat purity concealed on their person was recovered,a Customs press release said.
