West Bengal Governor M K Narayanan today awarded the 'Governor's Medal' to 36 NCC cadets of the West Bengal and Sikkim Directorate for their outstanding accomplishments in the year 2013-2014.
The Governor also felicitated the West Bengal and Sikkim NCC national games team that won the prestigious national games for the first time.
Shooters who excelled at the All India GV Mavlankar Shooting Championship at Asansol and also at National Shooting Championship competition in Delhi were also felicitated.
For exemplary courage and bravery, Sandip Rai of 5(B) Bn Darjeeling was given the award in recognition of his climbing Mount Everest.
On behalf of the state government a cheque of Rs 50,000 was handed over to him.
