Govt begins registration of e-rickshaws

The transport department of Delhi government today started the process of registration of e-rickshaws for which it has set up special camps at all its regional offices.
A senior government official said the department will carry the drive till March 31.
Last month, the AAP government had announced that it would give a subsidy of Rs 15,000 to those e-rickshaw drivers who get
their vehicles registered with the transport department.
"At these camps, department officials will register e-rickshaws after checking all documents as per the laid down rules," the official said.
The Arvind Kejriwal government will also give financial assistance of Rs 30,000 to those drivers who retrofit their unreigstered old vehicles as per norms of the Transport Department.
