Chhattisgarh Home Minister Ramsewak Paikra today informed the Legislative Assembly that kin of those killed in the Maoist attack in Jiram Valley of Bastar last year, including the public representatives, have been compensated by the state government.
"Fifteen public representatives, 10 security personnel and two civilians were martyred in Jiram Valley attack. Besides, 26 other local representatives and nine security personnel were injured in the incident," Paikra informed in a written reply to queries of Congress MLAs Motilal Dewangan and Deepak Baij.
He said the next of the kin of the deceased politicians and civilians were given an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each, while family members of the martyred security personnel were given Rs 10 lakh-Rs 10.25 lakh each.

"A member each from families of the martyred security personnel and from three public representatives are provided jobs on the compassionate ground," the minister said.
As per the reply, naxal leader Ramanna and cadres belonging to Darbha Divisional Committee and Military Platoon are among 150-200 naxals who are booked by Darbha police in connection with the May 25 massacre.
"..So far nobody has been arrested in this case and the National Investigating Agency is probing the case," Paikra added.
