Govt to bring transport dept services to Delhiites' doorstep

Delhiites will soon get services of transport department including driving licences, vehicle permits, registration, and Public Service Vehicle (PSV) badges among others at their doorstep as the AAP government today announced its ambitious project.

Addressing a gathering on the completion of two years of AAP government in Delhi, Transport Minister Satyendar Jain said the the new facility will be started in the next five months in the national capital.

Jain said that government also has plans to make all services of transport department online to cater to the people of Delhi.

"As per the plan, a person, who is not able to apply online, can call transport department and thereafter, department's officials will go to his residence and collect his biometric details, photo and other required information.
 

"We have been working on the project for the last six months and in next four-five months, it will be implemented. This is being done for the first time in the country," Jain said.

The transport minister said that in six months, all services of transport department will be made online in the capital.

He said that government has made a proposal to revamp the city's public transport under which services of buses, metro and feeder buses will be linked.

He also said that government has been issuing 10,000 autorickshaw permits to augment public transport of the capital.
