:Chief Minister V Narayanasamy today said government had evolved a Rs 3.6 crore flood control programme as an immediate measure to ensure urban and rural areas did not face flood havoc in the monsoon.
Talking to reporters after a review meeting with PWD and Local Administration Department on preventive measures to protect Puducherry against any impact of floods in future, he said past experience showed that certain pockets in urban and rural areas faced flood havoc. The departments would desilt the canals so that there would be no flooding of fields, roads and residential areas.
