Kerala government today decided to file an appeal against a single bench order of the High Court quashing its decision to form 83 new village panchayats by carving out part of existing villages.
Talking to reporters after holding discussions with the state election commission, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the government would file an appeal tomorrow.
The government also decided to reject the suggestion of the state election commission to hold the local body polls as per the 2010 delimitation, he said.

Chandy made it clear that the polls would be held as per schedule in October.
Another round of discussion would be held with state election commission after 15 days, he added.
Disposing of a batch of petitions, the court recently had quashed the government order of April 25 this year stating that it was issued without prior notification of Governor under Art 243(g) of the Constitution.
