Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said the state government would seek legal opinion for further action into alleged irregularities in acquiring properties by former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala and his sons, through various trusts and societies.
Hooda said this after a House Committee found gross irregularities and misuse of power regarding properties acquired "illegally" by the former Chief Minister and his kin, across Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and Chandigarh.
Hooda told the Assembly here that state government "will seek legal opinion for further action on the report submitted by the committee regarding properties acquired illegally by Chautala and his sons, through various trusts and societies".
The recommendations of the six-member House Committee, which was headed by Congress MLA B B Batra and was tabled today in the House, would be forwarded to state governments concerned, he said while speaking on a Calling Attention motion moved by Congress MLA Naresh Sharma.
Both Om Parkash Chautala and his son Ajay are members of the Assembly and are currently serving jail term in connection with a teachers' recruitment scam.
Abhay Chautala, younger son of the INLD president, who is also a legislator, was suspended by the Speaker on Friday along with other legislators of his party for unruly behaviour.
Replying to the motion moved by Sharma, Parliamentary Affairs minister Randeep Singh Surjewala said the Chautala family had acquired land in Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and Chandigarh by committing irregularities.
Describing the alleged act of irregularities as unfortunate, the Chief Minister said, it was not appropriate for any government to act in such a manner.
Hooda said, the opposition's aim behind disrupting the House on the first day of the session was to thwart the tabling of Batra committee report in the Assembly.
Lashing out at the opposition, he said they are "tainted, painted and dented" and added that leaders like Chautala have no morality.
"They have released CDs (showing some Congress members and their relatives seeking graft for getting CLUs done) just to divert the attention of the House from this (committee report). Their motive was to spread chaos," he said.
Independent MLA from Sirsa, Gopal Kanda, who is supporting the Hooda government, also criticised the Chautalas and sought a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities.
