With the implementation of GST, the Union government has taken a revolutionary step towards economic unification in the country, Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh said here today.

Singh, who was speaking at a convocation ceremony here, called upon the universities to come forward and make the people aware of the minute aspects of the new tax regime.

The governor and the chancellor of the Kota University later gave away gold medals and degrees to the students who graduated in different disciplines.

'One Nation, One Tax' is spirit of the fresh economic reform (GST) and every person of every section of the society needs to be educated and made aware of the reformation, the governor said.

The universities should now organise seminars, workshops and special sessions on GST and invite businessmen, traders, industrialists to explain them the rules and regulations of the new economic policy, he said.

A question-answer session should also be planned in these events so that the people can clear their doubts and anticipations on GST, he added.

The governor called upon the students to come forward with innovations to serve the society and the country.

"The students should work to bring the deprived sections of the society in villages and cities into main stream," he said.

The governor also appealed to the universities to impart such education that the youths become 'employment-providers', rather than 'employment-seekers'.

The State Higher Education Minister Kiran Maheshwari was also present on the occasion.
