The Gujarat High Court today issued notice to the state government over re-appointment of N K Amin, accused in two fake encounter cases, as superintendent of police in Mahisagar district after his retirement this year.
Issuing the notice, Justice R M Chhaya posted the next hearing in the case on November 22.
The petition against Amin's re-appointment was filed by two women from Mahisagar district.

In their petition, Anshu Shukla (29) and Sonal Shukla (37), both married to two brothers in Shukla family of Virpur village in the district, sought Amin's removal as SP on the ground that he has a chequered service history.
They sought high court's intervention in quashing Amin's re-appointment.
They claimed the officer was not fit to hold such important post as he is facing criminal prosecution in encounter cases.
The petition also claimed that the post of district SP is a sensitive one and could not be awarded on a contractual basis.
Amin was listed in the charge sheet in two alleged fake encounter cases of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and Ishrat Jahan.
After securing bail in August 2015, he was posted as SP, Mahisagar, by state government.
He was re-appointed on the same post on contractual basis after his retirement from service on August 31 this year.
Earlier, Anshu and Sonal had filed a petition seeking protection from Amin while accusing him of harassing them in connection with an old case against their family. They had sought the officer's ouster in that petition as well.
The high court had divided that petition in two parts -- one dealing with police protection and another with Amin's appointment. A notice in the previous case was issued two weeks back.
