Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel will inaugurate a pipeline scheme tomorrow under which Narmada water would be supplied to Saurashtra and Kutch at Dhanki in Surendranagar district, which will benefit 5,587 villages and 116 towns.

"To provide Narmada water to the parched areas of Saurashtra and Kutch, the state government has built three big pumping stations at Dhanki village of Lakhtar taluka on a branch canal of Naramda canal network," member secretary of Gujarat Water Supply Board Mahesh Singh said.

The 'Swarnim Gujarat Bulk Pipeline Scheme', has three pipelines - Dhanki to Maliya (120.5 km), Dhanki to Hadala (Rajkot) (146.10 km) and Dhanki to Navda (74.5 km).

It would provide 165 crore litres of potable water daily to about 1.75 crore people.
