Gujarat swine flu toll rises to 347

Five more persons have succumbed to the deadly swine flu virus in Gujarat, pushing the overall death toll in the state to 347, officials said.

At least 92 fresh cases of swine flu infections were reported today, taking the total number of persons affected by the virus since January to 5,715, said a statement by the health department.

"One swine flu death each was reported in Ahmedabad, Kutch, Rajkot, Jamnagar and Morbi district of the state," it said.

Gujarat has registered 5,715 positive cases of swine flu, while 4,408 patients have been cured, it said.

In Ahmedabad, 1,945 cases have been reported while 103 people have died since January, the statement said.
 

Two experts from the Union government have visited Gujarat to take stock of the situation.

Dr Shivdas Chakravarti of New Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital and Dr Pavan Tivari of AIIMS visited the state, the statement said.
