Haryana Transport Minister Ram Bilas Sharma today said the number of Haryana Roadways buses will be increased from 4,100 to 5,100 during the current financial year with a view to increase the number of passengers.

The target is to increase the number of passengers to 40 lakh from its present 19 lakh daily commuters, he said.

For this, new buses would also be included under the New Transport Policy on public private partnership mode in which driver would be provided by the Transport Department while the vehicle and conductor would be provided by bus owner, he said.

Tenders under the new policy would be invited soon and current permit holders can also apply, the minister said, adding that Haryana Roadways was committed to provide Volvo and other comfortable bus services to the people.

On setting up of a bench of Punjab and Haryana High Court in South Haryana, Sharma said that it could be set up at any place from Narnaul to Rohtak and would help in reducing the pending number of cases in the court.
