Har transport dept okays insurance cover for contract staff

Haryana Roadways has decided to provide accident insurance to contractual staff like drivers, conductors, daily-wage earners and ad-hoc workers.

Haryana Director General of Transport, Arun Kumar, today said that in the event of death, the insurance cover would be Rs 5 lakh while a similar sum would be paid for the loss of two limbs or one limb and an eye.

The cover for loss of one limb or an eye would be Rs 2.50 lakh while permanent total disablement would also draw Rs 5 lakh.

Kumar said the scheme would cover all staffers except for the regularised ones who are getting benefits of various state government financial assistance schemes.
