A youth has been arrested for allegedly abducting and murdering the six-year- old son of his neighbour for ransom in a village in Korba district, police said today.
"Arun Yadav was nabbed last night for abducting and killing Mukesh Bairagi from outside his house in Kudurmal village at Urga area on May 16," SP B N Meena said.
He said the victim, son of local lawyer Bhupesh Bairagi, had gone missing while he was playing near his house.

After abducting the child, Yadav allegedly strangulated Mukesh and dumped his body in the courtyard of his house, the SP said, adding that the body has been recovered.
Police said the accused made a call last evening demanding ransom of Rs 10 lakh from Bhupesh to secure release of his son, following which he lodged a complaint with police.
"On the basis of the phone call, several people including Yadav were interrogated. Yadav broke down during the questioning and confessed to the crime," Meena said.
He said Yadav kidnapped and killed Mukesh to settle some personal score with the victim's father.
