Haryana has requested the Election Commission (EC) to replace a set of its four IAS officers with similar ranking officers from the state to be deployed as observers in poll-bound Bihar.
The state government, alte evening, sent a fax message in this regard to the EC which will hold its first meeting session for chosen observers in Bihar here tomorrow.
While seeking an "exemption" for the four officers owing to important official work in their charges, the state has recommended the names of four other IAS officers, sources said.
The conference and briefing session tomorrow is expected to be addressed by the full Commission led by Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi and ECs A K Joti and O P Rawat.
The observers, later in the day, will be briefed about the protocols and election expenditure monitoring framework created by the EC to ensure a level playing field during the polls.
The polls to the 243-seat Bihar Assembly will be held in five phases beginning October 12. The counting of votes will take place on November 8.
