The Hyderabad High Court

Wednesday lifted its order restraining the Election Commission from publishing voters' list in poll-bound Telangana, according to the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer.

The court had on October 5 directed the EC not to notify the revised list of electoral rolls for the state, slated to go to assembly elections on December 7, said an official release by the Telangana CEO.

The court was hearing a public interest litigation petition seeking that the special revision of voters in the state be declared illegal.

It said the high court considered the submission made on behalf of the ECI that claims and objections by any voter as eligible under law can be submitted post the publication of electoral roll and the changes and rectification of entries in the electoral rolls can continue up to the last for filing nominations with respect to the elections.

The EC had earlier decided to publish the final list on October 6, however, with the courts direction it was postponed to October 12.
