Intense heat wave swept Punjab and Haryana with mercury soaring sharply above normal level at several places in both the states.
Hisar remained the hottest place in the region as it sizzled at 45.5 degree C, four degrees above normal, MeT department report said today.
Among other places in Haryana, Bhiwani's mercury was 44.8 degree C and Ambala recorded its maximum at 42.7 degree C, four degrees above normal.

UT Chandigarh, joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, had a high temperature of 41.7 degree C, four notches above normal.
In Punjab, Amritsar's maximum settled at 43.2 degree C while Ludhiana and Patiala recorded their maximum at 42.7 degree C each, four notches above normal.
MeT department predicted dry weather conditions in Punjab and Haryana in next 24 hours.
