Heavy rainfall predicted in Vidarbha; rains lash Kolhapur

The Regional Meteorological Department here has predicted heavy rainfall in the entire Vidarbha region from 8.30 AM till tomorrow with Gondia district receiving the highest rainfall in the 24 hours since yesterday.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre here, Gondia district received highest average rainfall of 137.6 mm in the region.

Meanwhile, rains lashed Kolhapur city and district in western Maharashtra, throwing normal life out of gear today.

Nine roads in the district are partially closed because of flood-like situation.

According to Met department, water levels in various dams and rivers are on the rise following the heavy downpour, with water level in major dams going up to half to their capacity.
 

In Gondia district, Deori taluka recorded highest rainfall at 182 mm, followed by Salekasa 171 mm, Aamgaon 170 mm, Sadak Arjuni 140 mm and Tiroda taluka 102 mm.

The quantity of rainfall recorded in Vidarbha region of East Maharashtra in the 24 hours ended yesterday is as follows: Nagpur (58.8 mm)

Akola (8.6 mm)

Amravati (8 mm)

Wardha (16.3 mm)

Chandrapur (21.1 mm)

Bramhapuri (60.6 mm)

Washim (5.2 mm)

Yavatmal (12.0 mm), according to the Met office.
