Heavy rains lashed parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal as the Met department today forecast more downpour in the region, while some areas of Gangetic West Bengal received one or two spells of rain.
Coochbehar received the highest rainfall at 165 mm since yesterday, the MeT department said.
While neighbouring Jalpaiguri district received 20.8 mm rainfall, the hilltown of Darjeeling received 7.2 mm rain.
Bankura recorded the day's highest temperature at 35.5 degrees Celsius, with Kolkata following at 35.2 degrees Celsius.
Places like Bankura, Burdwan, Asansol and Sriniketan received scant rainfall since yesterday.
The Met department has forecast heavy rains for the sub-Himalayan districts of Darjeeling, Coochbehar and Jalpaiguri in the next two days.
It has forecast partly cloudy sky with possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorm in the next two to three days.
