Heavy rains lash eastern Rajasthan, normal life hit

Heavy rains lashed eastern parts of Rajasthan today inundating low-lying areas and hitting normal life.

Kotkasim received 14 cm of rains, Kishangarh 12 cm, Baran 10, Atru 8, Pipalda, Baseri and Chaksu 7 cm each, and Vanasthali, Kumher and Tizara 6 cm each, the Met office said.

Several areas in Alwar, Bharatpur, Tonk, Baran, Kota, Sawaimadhopur and Jaipur were inundated, officials said.

Many low-lying areas in Jaipur were flooded due to heavy downpours, they said.

The Met office has predicted heavy rains in north-east parts of the desert state tomorrow.
