Hikal Q4 net down 66.8 per cent at Rs 3.07 crore

Hikal Ltd, a chemicals and pharmaceuticals maker, today reported 66.8 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 3.07 crore for the fourth March 31, 2014 due to higher tax expense.

The company had reported net profit of Rs 9.25 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.

Hikal's net sales increased by 19.98 per cent at Rs 227.54 crore in the quarter under review as compared to Rs 189.64 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal, a company said in a BSE filing.

The company's tax expenses during the quarter were at Rs 13.82 crore as against Rs 3.53 in the same quarter a year ago.

Mahindra Holidays reports 21 pc decline in net profit * Mahindra Holidays & Resorts today reported a 21 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 24.38 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2014.

The company had recorded a net profit of Rs 30.92 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, Mahindra Holidays & Resorts said in a BSE filing.

Total income of the company however rose to Rs 218.62 crore as compared to Rs 200.54 crore in the fourth quarter of the last fiscal.

For the finanicial year ended March 31, 204, the company recorded a 11.6 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 94.5 crore. It was Rs 106.97 crore in the previous year.

Gillette Q3 profit down by 68.78 pc at Rs 8.48 crore * FMCG major Gillette India today posted 68.78 pc decline in its net profit to Rs 8.48 crore for the third quarter ended 31 March 2014 due to planned investments.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 27.16 crore in the corresponding period last year, Gillette India Ltd (GIL) said in a filing to the BSE.

However, net sales of the company increased to Rs 455.18 crore in the January-March quarter as against Rs 356.54 crore in the same period of last year.

"Gillette Q3 profit declines three fold to Rs 8.48 crore Profit after tax was in line of expectation at Rs 8 crore, while profit before tax stood at Rs 14 crore, due the planned investments. The base business continued to deliver strong results," the company said.

GIL follows July to June calender year.
