The house of Thyagesh Murthy, driver of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddharamaiah in Delhi was allegedly burgled today with the thieves decamping with lakhs of rupees and valuables, police said.
The locked house of Thyagesh Murthy in Sector-6 of R K Puram area of South Delhi was burgled today. Silverware weighing 2 Kg, mobile phones and cash amounting to Rs 2 lakh is reported to be stolen from the house, they said.
Murthy and his wife Anita had left for Bengaluru yesterday. The couple had requested Arun Verma, Anita's brother to watch the house in their absence, police said.
Verma who works as a general manager of a media house said that he got a call from his sister in the early morning and informed the police. She was alerted by a neighbour.
A case of house breaking and burglary was registered by RK Puram police on a complaint by Verma.
According to the police, the burglars entered the house after breaking open the window grill of the Karnataka government staff quarters.
Murthy, who belongs to Mysore has been living in the KB-13 staff quarter for nearly a decade. He drives the Karnataka Chief Minister's vehicle when he visits the national capital, police added.
