HP govt considering enhancement in diet allowance of nurses

Himachal Pradesh government is considering a three-fold hike in diet allowance of nurses, Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur said here today.

Plans are to increase the diet allowance of nurses from Rs 6 to Rs 18 per day, he said.

Training of nursing sisters in ward administration would be restored as it would go a long way in enhancing their professional efficiency, Singh told representatives of the Trained Nurses Association of India.

Training of immunisation would also be included in nursing training for upgradation of skills, he added.

The state government was also considering enhancing the strength of cadre of nurses and more posts of nurses would be filled to provide quality medical care services to the people of the state.
 

The minister asked the nursing staff to volunteer to serve in rural areas of the state so that qualitative and better health services could be ensured to rural populace.
