Husband-wife held with fake notes worth Rs 1.5 lakh

The police in Jalandhar district today arrested a husband-wife duo with fake notes worth around Rs 1.5 lakh and 80 grams of opium from their possession in Bilga area here.

SP (rural) Wazeer Singh said that during barricading at Bilga, police stopped Rajkumar and his wife Baljeet Kaur for checking and recovered the fake notes in Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 denomination from them along with the opium.

The duo, residents of Gadran village here, were arrested and the fake currency amounting to Rs 1.5 lakh was also seized, he said.

The third accused and Rajkumar's brother-in-law, Jasvinder, managed to flee from the spot. The accused were printing the fake notes at their home and sold them at half price, the SP said.
 

A case has been registered against the couple and investigation is underway, Singh said.
