The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has tasked the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) with holding the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), an official said today.

The Directorate of Film Festivals held the charge of holding IFFI. The festival will now be organised by the NFDC, a public sector unit, the official said, adding that an order has been in this regard.

The move comes over two months ahead of the 48th edition of the film festival scheduled in Goa.

The official said the NFDC has a strong track record in organising industry events such as 'Film Bazaar', which serves as a converging point for film buyers and sellers from all over the world.

The ministry had recently constituted a 40-member "preview committee" to select films for IFFI. It had also set up steering and technical committees for the festival.
