Idol of godess, ornaments, valuables stolen from temple

: Thieves broke into the Goddess Markatha Durgaparameshwari temple in Dakshina Kannada district and decamped with an idol of the Goddess, ornaments and valuables, totally estimated at Rs 10 lakh, police said.

The thieves first damaged the CCTV camera installed at the temple at Subrahmanya last night before stealing the ancient idol and aureole of the Goddess and ornaments.

The stolen items are estimated to be worth around Rs 10 lakh, police said.

A police team visited the temple and investigations are on, they said.
