The Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) today demanded the inclusion of Christian and Muslim Dalits in the Scheduled Caste (SC) category.

The organisation also demanded SC status for Dalits who have converted to Christianity and Islam.At a press conference, CBCI leaders, including its executive secretary Fr Devasagayaraj, asked the government to grant SC status to Christian and Muslim Dalits.
The organisation also expressed unhappiness over reports that the government was not keen to grant SC status to Dalits who have converted to Christianity and Islam.
