The India A and Australia A cricketers wore black armbands and observed two minutes silence in memory of late former President APJ Abdul Kalam at the start of the second four-day unofficial Test here today.

BCCI tweeted a picture of the two teams observing silence with their heads bowed and wearing black armbands at the M A Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk.

Kalam, who was known as the people's President (2002-07) and the 'missile man', passed away at the age of 83 on Monday after he collapsed while delivering a lecture in IIM Shillong.

The mortal remains of the 'Bharat Ratna' awardee will be laid to rest in his home town of Rameswaram tomorrow.
