India, Netherlands review ties ahead of Dutch PM visit

India and the Netherlands have reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral ties, including economic and commercial issues, ahead of the visit of the Dutch Prime Minister to the country in June.

Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs Navtej Singh Sarna and Renee Jones-Bos, Secretary-General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands held the India-Netherlands Foreign Office Consultations in the Hague on May 4, an official statement here said.

It added that discussions were also held on regional issues, including relief and rescue operations in Nepal.

"Both sides also discussed multilateral cooperation and UNSC reform," the statement said.
 

The Netherlands remains among the top 20 partners of India in terms of volume of bilateral trade with significant positive balance of trade in favour of India.

It is also the sixth largest investor in terms of foreign direct investment into India.

There are 174 Indian companies based in the Netherlands, attracted by the Dutch tax system which is transparent, stable and flexible, an MEA report said.
