India wushu players aim for 10 gold medals

Defending champions India will be aiming to bag 10 gold medals when wushu commences tomorrow at the 12th South Asian Games 2016 here.

A total of six countries -- Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka -- will be seen in action at the Assam Rifles' Rising Sun Sports Complex here.

The Indian wushu contingent comprises 20 members -- six female, 10 male, three coaches and a doctor.

In the last edition of the Games in 2010, India had emerged victorious in wushu competition, while Bangladesh managed to win four medals -- two gold (one for Taolu and one for Sanshou) and two bronze for Sanshou.
 

Tomorrow's event includes Taolu men-changquan and Nanquan and women-changquan and Nanquan which is headed by the Sanshou quarterfinal bouts -- men 52kg, 56kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg and 75kg.
