Indian origin singer Aaradhna Patel created a record at this year's Pacific Music Awards in New Zealand by winning every trophy she was nominated for in all the six categories.

The 29-year-old singer is a New Zealander of Samoan and Indian descent. Her father Jayanti Patel hails from Gujarat's Navsari village while her mother Sia'a Patel is Samoan from Papa Uta village.

Aaradhna's win represents the most awards won in a night by any single artist in the nine-year history of the Pacific Music Awards which were held at Manukau City's Vodafone Events Centre on May 30, according to a release on Pacific Music Awards website.

The R&B singer won Best Female Artist, Best Pacific Urban Artist, Best Song, Best Album and Best Video and special Radio Airplay award for her hit track 'Wake Up'. The catchy tune helped her land a multi-album deal with US label Republic Records.

Her latest album 'Treble & Reverb' was entirely written by Aaradhna and comes after an almost four-year break following the success of 'Sweet Soul Music'.

"I am so humbled and honoured to have been recognised by the Pasefika Proud Pacific Music Awards for doing something which I love," the singer said.

Aaradhna said her famous song 'Wake Up' was influenced by late Amy Winehouse.

"At the time I was listening to Amy Winehouse. I used to go to her Back to Black album; I'd repeat it all day because I connected with all her music.
