A 26-year-old Indian has gone missing in Dubai a day after arriving here to start a new job, police said today.

Alwin Antony D'silva, from Mumbai, arrived here in mid- September to start working as an executive for a shipping company in Bur Dubai, his father, who is desperately searching for his son, said.

D'silva's passport and all his belongings were found in his room near Al Rifaa police station here by the police.

D'silva arrived in Dubai on September 16 and went missing on September 17, his father said.

"There has been no update from the police yet. I hope my son is safe and sound," he told Gulf News.

"My son just started work as an executive for a shipping company in Bur Dubai," he said.

"My son's employer has registered a missing case with Dubai Police who are still investigating the matter," D'silva's father said.

He appealed to the police and the public to help him find his son. He said his wife was in a state of shock and was finding it difficult to cope with the situation.
